Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar: TinkerTool Classic, v3.9.5.The program will not work correctly if used with an OS for which it was not designed. TinkerTool versions are specific to versions of macOS and are not backward compatible. Support therefore goes back to Mac OS X 10.1 Puma and later. However, over the years, compatibility with particular versions of macOS was spun off into separate applications: TinkerTool Classic, TinkerTool Classic Generation 2, TinkerTool 4, TinkerTool 5, TinkerTool 6, and the current TinkerTool. Initially, TinkerTool worked with all versions of macOS. The application also supports a reset option to reset all preferences to Apple's defaults, or to the state that existed before using the application. Administrative privileges or background processing are not required. Although users can typically access these through Terminal operations, TinkerTool assembles them and provides a GUI similar to Apple’s System Preferences application for easier access.īy using Apple’s hidden preferences, the application only commits changes that are reversible and affect the preferences of the current user account. TinkerTool gives users access to hidden system and application preferences that Apple has built into macOS, but not integrated into GUI preferences menus. It is developed by German developer Marcel Bresink Software-Systeme. TinkerTool is a freeware application for macOS that allows the user to customise the system by exposing hidden preferences to a graphical user interface (GUI).

It seemed other universes lacked the means or the will to travel elsewhere, thus it was shut off for good the safety of the skeletons and the city was considered more important than the possibility that untamable beings traveled through. While the machine had once spat out skeletons on a regular basis, it was deemed derelict after the last two came through over 6 months ago. He only worries for their safety, but who is he to judge the other's decision?Ī malfunction of this magnitude is improbable, but not impossible: That was when they saw it, two beings, one larger and one smaller. This is what brought them here, and if it wants them back, who am I to stop it?" "Don't be surprised if this doesn't end the way you want it to."
This means that they are triggered when it makes sense for them to be available. Extensions are quick and easy to install/uninstall and they’re smart. Users and developers have created useful PopClip add-ons to popular third-party apps like Evernote, OmniFocus, and Skype, and it seems that a few new ones appear every month. In addition to the default set, there are currently over 100 extensions available, putting the actions you need-from image search to unit conversion-at your fingertips. It is the extra actions available through the PopClip extension library that make PopClip much more powerful and, for this user, essential. While the ability perform the actions shown in the screenshots above is nice, it frankly wouldn’t make it a must-have utility for most users. And importantly, PopClip is so well integrated and feels so native that you’d swear it was part of the operating system. Since I spend much of my time at the computer dealing with text (writing, editing, copying, pasting, formatting, searching for terms, etc.), any piece of software that can reduce friction as I manipulate text is a plus. Unlike some of Apple’s own iOS-ification which seems more cosmetic than truly useful, PopClip scratches a productivity itch right where I need it-with text handling. Nevertheless, the consensus seems to be that some degree of OS convergence is inevitable. And some features were removed: the iWork productivity suite ( Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) was overhauled “to support a unified file format between OS X and iOS 7 versions” but the removal of key features made quite a few users unhappy. Some features were added: the five-finger pinch gesture on the trackpad of a MacBook Pro brings up the iOS-style view of the applications via Launchpad, and since OS X 10.7, “natural scrolling” has been the default way to scroll. He can be reached through the center’s website: a longtime Mac user who does not own an iOS device, I have been somewhat reluctant to embrace the steady “iOS-ification” of the Mac-you know, the aesthetic and functional bits that were introduced to OS X that borrowed from iOS (iPhone, iPad). Thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and feedback. I'm writing this "What's New" on the eve of PopClip's 12th birthday. See post: "About PopClip compatibility with JetBrains IDEs" on the PopClip Forum () for more information. Changed: PopClip no longer appears automatically in JetBrains apps, but it can still be summoned by keyboard shortcut. Localization: Added full Turkish and Slovak translations, thanks to volunteer translators. Fixed: PDF Expert compatibility (once again). Fixed: Certain Iconify icons which appeared glitched now display correctly. This should improve some things in Google Chrome, Chromium-based browsers, and Electron apps such as Obsidian. Fixed: Added a work-around for a Chromium bug that could cause PopClip to not see the newlines in the text selection. Fixed: PopClip can now detect that the selection is read-only in Google Chrome. Added: Improved support for the following browsers: Arc, Orion, Tor Browser, Mullvad, DEVONagent Pro. Changed: PopClip has a new application icon and a reshaped menu bar icon to match it. When I took the 10fastfingers typing test, I was only two keystrokes short of my usual 70-word-per-minute average. Usually, my biggest complaint about 2-in-1 systems is the often shallow and mushy keyboards. Despite only having 1.3 millimeters of key travel (1.5 mm is our minimum), the keys never bottomed out and even had a bit of a snap, thanks to the 71 grams of actuation force. The laptop's island-style keyboard is evenly spaced with large, backlit keys. The laptop easily filled my grandma's old bedroom with loud, somewhat brassy audio. The company manages to package quite a lot of sound in a relatively thin frame. The Tilt Pen also offers deeper functionality, including a replaceable pen tip and a Bluetooth button embedded in the tail of the device in order to preserve battery life. However, where the Digital Pen relies on a battery, the Tilt Pen charges via USB Type-C and can achieve 3 hours and 18 minutes of battery life from a 15-second fast charge. Similar to the Digital Pen, the Tilt Pen is also Bluetooth-connected and has 1,024 pressure points. Available for $89.99, the Tilt Pen can be used for more minute details such as shading. Microsoft's Surface Pen offers 4,096 levels of pressure, but HP claims it can match Microsoft using software algorithms.īut if the idea of hunting down AAAA batteries gives you pause, HP also has its Tilt Pen. Powered by a AAAA battery, the Bluetooth-connected Digital Pen offers 1,024 pressure levels and delivers smooth, accurate pen strokes, as I discovered as I penned a few notes and colored the lighthouse template from the Windows E Ink workspace. HP has bundled its Digital Pen with the Folio, which can be used for notetaking or sketching. But instead of smudging the panel with unsightly fingerprints, you could use a pen. The 10-touch capacitive display is quick and responsive, keeping up with my squiggling in Fresh Paint. Yes, you can use your fingers on the touch screen. If HP cut down the bezels, I'd imagine it would be possible to squeeze a 14-inch panel in there, and bigger is always better. In the world of InfinityEdges and other barely-there bezels, the Folio's are looking chunky in comparison, particularly along the top and bottom. My biggest complaint about the Folio's display is with the bezels. MORE: Laptops with the Best Display Brightness At 408 nits, the Surface Pro 6 is the brightest in the field of competitors, with the Galaxy Book 2 coming in a close second at 350 nits. The Folio's 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 touch display is colorful, responsive and fairly bright.Īveraging 313 nits, the Folio's brightness is enough to outshine the Yoga C930's 273 nits, but it's a few nits below the 316-nit category average. However, the Surface Pro 6 (136 percent) and the Galaxy Book 2 (200 percent) offer richer color. That's better than the Yoga C930's 100 percent and the 116-percent premium laptop average. The panel's vividness is partially due to its ability to reproduce 119 percent of the sRGB gamut. Since the Folio is only 0.6 inches thick, the convertible doesn't have a lot of real estate available for ports. Since they're detachables, the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 (11.5 x 7.9 x 0.3 inches) and Samsung Galaxy Book 2 (11.3 x 7.9 x 0.3 inches) are noticeably lighter at 1.7 and 1.8 pounds, respectively. The Lenovo Yoga C930 (12.6 x 8.9 x 0.6 inches) is a tad bit lighter at 3.1 pounds. It slid effortlessly into my backpack on the way home to New Jersey for Thanksgiving. And having seen it in person, her excitement is valid - the wine-red leather is definitely a conversation starter.Īt 3.4 pounds, the 12.6 x 9.2 x 0.6-inch Folio could hardly be considered heavy or chunky. She was very excited to hear about the notebook's Bordeaux Burgundy and Luminous Gold color variations. While I'm not normally one to sniff my tech (at least, not in public), you'd be remiss not to in the case of the leather Folio.Īnd as enthusiastic as my mom was about the mix of leather and metal, she did ask if the Folio came in other colors. Unfortunately, no internet service provider will be able to tell you their suggested latency for cloud gaming, because the answer to that depends on which cloud gaming service you use. Games played on a connection with high latency will incur a delay between your controller inputs and what happens in the game, while games on low latency will respond more closely to what it’s like to play a game that’s been downloaded onto a local device. Latency is what determines whether it’s playable. Any speeds lower than the minimum will result in buffering that will completely derail the experience.Ĭonnection speeds only determine whether you can see the game, though. If you remove the player input part of the equation - which is, admittedly, very important - cloud gaming is just a video feed streamed to you. If you’ve used video streaming services like Netflix, you may already be familiar with these requirements. If you want to play games in 4K, you’ll need a connection speed of 35 Mbps or more. DSL or satellite connections often won’t cut it, given the high demand of cloud gaming when it comes to speed and latency.įor the major cloud gaming services, like Google Stadia, Nvidia’s GeForce Now, Sony’s PlayStation Now, and Microsoft’s xCloud, you want an internet connection speed of around 15 megabits per second (xCloud requires at least 10 Mbps) to be able to stream games to your screen at 720p resolution. If you can, opt for cable or fiber internet. Internet speeds can fluctuate wildly across the world and also inside each country itself. Internet connectionĬloud gaming calls for a fast and stable internet connection. If you want cloud gaming to be the seamless experience that its marketing campaigns have promised, you have to know how it works so you can pick the hardware that’s right for you. Destiny 2’s Sanctified Mind, Sol Inherent boss isn’t going to wait around while you work out your latency problem. Everything about cloud gaming falls apart as soon as your internet connection can’t handle the kind of games you want to play. You need as close to a perfect response time as possible when you’re fighting against enemy players in a competitive game, or even if you’re in a particularly hard section of an action-based game. Not only are there several different services to choose from with various kinds of subscription fees, but there are specific internet speeds you have to hit in order to play the games in the first place. Cloud gaming has a lot of hidden requirements. Pure bliss.ĭesperados 3 - I loved Shadow Tactics but this cowboy follow-up just didn't grab me. Just crank some cowboy-tunes and head out on a long haul. This was my go-to chill-out game for much of 2020. It's more Mudrunner but with SNOW instead of MUD! What, that's not enough to get your excited? Ok, it also expands on the rather minimalist mission-formula of it's predecessors to turn it into more of a typical open-world game with lots of tasks and missions that frequently intersect with eachother. I really didn't expect a game where all you're doing is sorting garbage in zero-gravity to be this engrossing, but here we are. Hardspace: Shipbreaker - SURPRISE OF THE YEAR you just make the whole sequel miserable as hell.Ģ. I really didn't want a sequel to The Last Of Us, because how the hell do you follow that ending without the whole thing just being miserable as hell? Well, you don't. They combined the solid core gameplay systems of Mafia 3 with the storytelling of Mafia 1 and ended up with the best Mafia game so far. I guess the highest compliment I can pay it, and the only metric by which it really should be judged is that it feels like a worthy follow-up to Half-Life 2. Golf On Mars - MY MOST-PLAYED GAME OF THE YEAR York's BACK, BABYYYYY! This is a wonky mess of a game but when it comes to story and characters, it is as engaging as its predecessor.Ħ. I loved this arcadey platformer/climbing game and few enough people played it that I'm still in the top 10 leaderboard for most levels. It's Watch Dogs 2 but with more bells and whistels and fish and chips! The animation is a bit wonky and the story isn't much to write home about, but the tactics gameplay is satisfying. Each area consists of two stages, with the exception of Jera (which only has one stage). The hub of the game is known as Ginnungagap (the Void), from which players can access five areas. God Powers initially start off with two charges, but only a few can be upgraded to three, but all may be replenished at Mimir's Wells. Players can also use one of the God Powers: Frigg's Healing, Freya's Speed, Thor's Hammer, Odin's Spear, Loki's Decoy, or Heimdall's Shield. Finally, the dodge is a roll, which the players can use to avoid attacks and (after the 2-hit combo) can dodge and swing for a third strike. The axe chop is a light attack, which can be performed in a 2-hit combo, or a 3-hit combo and does small amounts of damage. The axe swing is the game's heavy attack: it takes a long time to perform, but does more damage than the axe chop. Combat in the game is relatively rudimentary, with the main actions being an axe swing, axe chop, and dodge. There are also secret locations containing Ithunn's Apples, which give a permanent buff to Thora's health.
